Dr. Roberto J. Mendez

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Roberto J. Mendez M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified plastic surgeon who brings over 20 years of experience. Dr. Mendez is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (A.S.P.S.) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (A.S.A.P.S.). In addition, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has treated thousands of patients since he started his practice in 1997, and among those are patients with keloids that have been severe, complex and that have recurred from treatments from other physicians.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Mendez is a graduate of Saint Louis University and Ponce School of Medicine, achieving honors in Surgery and Radiology. Dr. Mendez completed his accredited and formal Residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his general surgery training at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. During his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency, Dr. Mendez trained at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital in New York, where he trained with Sherrell Aston M.D., Daniel Baker, M.D., David Hidalgo, M.D., Gerald Pitman, M.D., Glenn Jelks, M.D. and Alan Matarasso, M.D., who are among the world’s leading experts in aesthetic plastic surgery as well as with Dennis Hammond, M.D., world-renowned plastic surgeon for breast surgical procedures in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Mendez also worked closely with Lexington Plastic Surgeons and continues to serve clients from New York, Cliffside Park, Washington DC, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, and Los Angeles.

Dr. Mendez is a devoted husband and father who enjoys spending quality time and building his legacy with his wife, Liana, and two sons. He is an accomplished athlete and runner, having completed hundreds of 5k, 10k half marathons, Ironman, Triathlons, and Ultramarathons. Dr. Mendez’s philosophy is to dedicate as much time to his patients and provide a great experience with the most natural aesthetic results while making patients look and feel their best. He is now a proud member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ Patient Safety Subcommittee and the Legislative Advocacy Committee.
